The age limit to join IAS course is between 21 to 30 years. There is some relaxable in age limit for SC / ST / OBC categories.

If you have bachelor degree from recognised university, you can easily join IAS course. It is necessary for you to learn at least any of the following subjects during your bachelor degree: Botany, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Zoology etc.

Candidate is required to fill up an application form to appear in IAS examination. A nominal value of Rs. 100/- is to be taken as fee. There is no fees for SC / ST / Physically Handicapped Candidates.

To fill up form is is very simple, it includes general information of candidates like Name, Date of Birth, Father Name, Address, Photograph etc. You must be careful to fill up this form i.e. without spelling mistake it should be completed.

You have to select only one language from the list of 18 Indian Languages.

Preparation for IAS:

Before a long period of time only three centers covered for IAS examination namely Delhi, Patna and Allahabad. Recently most of the cities are covered for this examination in every state. Before a long time only history, Sociology etc. were selected as main subjects. But now some other subjects are come into existence and they are to be taken as main subjects.

You have to set plan for General Studies preparation. Books of S.S.C. and H.S.C. books played an important part in this section. Most of the candidates prepared in terms of Reading without understanding its meaning and they are not success in examination. But if you have planed in advance i.e. how to prepare study material, which books are necessary for easy preparation, how many times required to complete syllabus, which is the best place for IAS coaching etc. are to be kept in mind and after you will prepare for IAS examination. Preparation with perfect planning will give you a positive result.

While selecting a subject you must keep in mind following things:

About syllabus of the subject you have selected.

Whether books and study material is easily available.

Whether it generate your interest.

What is the success ratio of this subject.

Take opinions from your friends who have passed this exam before.

First thing is that you should prepared for this one year period of examination and other thing is that you have a little knowledge of language which you choose for your examination. If you qualified with these two things then you will easily success in this examination.

Preparation for prelims in such a way so that you will success in your examination. Time is less for Mains examination, after passing Prelims examination. History and Sociology subjects for Prelims are safe.

Preliminary Examination:

Preliminary examination is to be held in either May or in June month. Two papers are covered under preliminary examination. One is General Studies and other one is Optional Subject. In optional subject you will choose e from various subjects list i.e. Psychology, Sociology, Agriculture, Maths, Statistics etc. Result of this examination is to be declared in the month of July or August. After success in Prelim exam, all successful candidates are called for the Main examination.

Main Examination:

Main examination is to be held in the month of either October or in the month of November. It takes about three hours of each and covered nine papers in all. Successful candidate in the main exam is eligible for an interview.

Interview:

Generally interview call is to be held in the month of either March or April. The number of candidates called for an interview are twice than the actual vacancy.

If you are a student or an executive, you must keep in mind every second and minute in each of the day. We will success if we make proper plan for preparing examination. You must reduce time with your family members, friends, relatives etc. When exam is near with you then you must leave all the extra activities and concentrate your mind only preparation.

Be careful in the selection of your prelim examination subject because in this exam, all questions are to be asked as objective types. Maths, Geography etc are more scoring subjects. You can prepare from various types of books, study materials and some guidance also. To read daily various newspapers, TV News, various types of Quiz is an important part in General Knowledge. Personality is most important part in selection of interview. If you looks smart and confidential person then no problem arise at the time of interview. Give interview without any type of tension. You must improve your communication skills too. If you are a well speaker and give correct answer of each of the question, you have more chance for selection.
