Higher Education at Gujarat Vidyapith, Ahmedabad

Gujarat Vidyapith situated in Ahmedabad city in the year 1920 by Mahatma Gandhi. Many institutions, colleges and schools were also affiliated to the Gujarat Vidyapith. Later on in the year 1923 students in various types of institutes at Gujarat Vidyapith was approximately 29,000 which was good progress by Gujarat Vidyapith itself.

Still 1930 Gujarat Vidyapith covers following course in languages such as Gujarati, English, Bengali, Marathi etc. Not only this language but also Mathematics, Economics, Music, Pharmacy etc. courses were available in the Gujarat Vidyapith. In the year 1947, Mahadev Desai College of Social Work was established. Gujarat Vidyapith was declared Deemed University in the year 1963 by the Government of India.

At present, Gujarat Vidyapith is one of the best national university in India who believes in Gandhiji’s opinions only.

Rashtriya Vidyapith provided various types of education i.e. from Nursery level to Doctorate level. Main objectives of the Vidyapith is to give truth and non-violence, equality of religious, mother tongue is the medium of instructions.

Gujarat Vidyapith provide not only in education programmes but also various types of other activities like social service, community prayers, study tours etc.

Objectives:

To provide hygienic and sanitation needs of the village community.

To give equal importance to physical exercise and manual labour.

To spread education in villages also.

To give equal importance to both industrial and intellectual education.

Central Library has many types of books, journals and manuscripts. This library is open throughout the year except one day i.e. first day of Vikram Samvat. On this day library remains closed. Membership for this library is open for general public. Most of the people used facility of this library.

Various types of books, journals, newspapers, audio cassettes, discs, microfilms, slides, maps, charts, photographs etc. are available in this library. This library is connected with computer so it is very easy to find out any type of book with any author name easily and quickly. This library gives facility of photocopying also.

Various sections available in this library like main book storage section, reference section, copyright section, magazine section, journals sections, children sections etc.
